Your Government

City Hall

On January 1, 1994 the citizens of Mad River Township and the Village of Riverside merged into the City of Riverside. The electors of the City of Riverside voted to be governed by a municipal charter. The Charter adopted a Council-Manager form of government with six Council Members and a Mayor. All seven members are elected on an "at large" non partisan basis and serve four year terms. The Manager is appointed by a majority vote of members of Council. The Manager is the chief executive and administrative officer of the City. The Manager is responsible to the Council for proper administration of all business of the City. The City has full-service Police, Fire/EMS and Public Services Departments. All departments are located at 1791 Harshman Road along with a second fire station, Station #6, located at 1081 Spinning Road. The current local income tax rate is 1.5%, which is one of the lowest municipal income tax rates in Montgomery County. Property tax rates compare favorably with similar jurisdictions in the area.
